Ripple Generator Systems

FAQ

A high‑current ripple generator system is a specialized test system designed to superimpose controlled AC ripple current onto a DC current or DC operating point, enabling realistic simulation of ripple conditions seen in real‑world power electronics and battery systems.

1200 A_pp (peaktopeak) refers to the maximum amplitude of the AC ripple current that can be injected. This allows testing of components and systems under very high ripple stress conditions.

The main purpose is to:

Simulate realistic ripple currents

Stress components thermally and electrically

Validate durability, lifetime, and robustness

Test systems under operating conditions that cannot be reproduced with DC sources alone

DC power supply → Provides steady DC voltage or current

Ripple generator → Injects controlled AC current ripple on top of an existing DC operating point

Ripple generators are used when dynamic current stress is the key test requirement.

Common applications include:

Battery and battery pack testing

EV powertrain and DClink validation

Capacitor and busbar testing

Power electronics and inverter validation

Automotive and industrial endurance testing

It is also used for demanding e-vehicle HV bus tests according to LV123, MBN 11123, VW80300 & ISO 21498-2:2021
