High Power Bidirectional DC Source/Sink System
The I-TS series Single channel from Gustav Klein is a bidirectional DC power, single channel with power levels from 35 kW up to 650kW in single cabinet. The I-TS series is fully scalable up to 2.6MW with parallel systems. The available voltage ranges of 80V, 120V, 300V, 600V, 800V, 1,000V, 1,200V and 1,500VDC provide full power up to ±1,200A within a single system.
The solution is designed specifically for Battery Testing, EV/EVSE, Motor drive, Fuel cell, and Powertrain application. The architecture enables a continuous, interruption-free transition between source and sink operation.
I-TS series offers an optional overload feature which allows up to 150% of rated Power for 60 seconds, followed by a recovery period (≤nominal load) of five times the overload duration.

Battery Testing
I-TS Single channel system is designed for battery testing. The important factors for Battery testing are fast current slew rate.
The graph shows an example of the Battery which is set at 80V. Setting the charging profile to discharge profile with current set point from -1000A to +1000A, the I-TS measures current slew rate of <1.2ms for measured current from -900A to +900A. The fast switching from sink to source along with fast current slew rate makes I-TS ideal solution for Battery testing.

Battery Simulator
I-TS series offers optional battery simulator which allows users to select various battery models and perform test like state-of-charge (SoC) and state-of-health (SoH) estimation.Output filter is optimized for Battery simulation by additional electrolytic capacitor.
One of the important factors to simulate a battery is the transient time of the battery simulator.
I-TS offers high voltage stability during load changes and short settling times after load changes. I-TS offers fast voltage transients for battery simulator. The Fig. shows Battery Simulator setting with Constant voltage 800V, 600A. The battery specification allows max accepted deviation of voltage at load step 0-100% in 3 msec: 1 % fs = 8 V. The I-TS is able to achieve the same in 1.5mS with deviation of <0.5%.
