MI-TS Series Multi Channel - DC Source/Sink​

High Power Bidirectional DC Source/Sink System

The MI-TS series is a bidirectional DC power, with two or four independent channel, each providing max. output up to 1500 V and ±1200 A. Each Channel can be operated independently or connected in parallel to increase output current. A common DC link enables power sharing between channels, allowing regenerated energy from one channel to be used by another, reducing power drawn from the input Grid. In applications such as battery cycling, this can allow the size of the rectifier (active front end) to be reduced to approximately 1/3rd of the total DC/DC converter power.
MI-TS series offers an optional overload feature which allows up to 150% of rated Power for 60 seconds, followed by a recovery period (≤nominal load) of five times the overload duration.

Battery Testing using Multi-channel configuration

MI-TS four channel system is designed dedicatedly for battery and Powertrain system.
Each channel can be independently configured as a source or load to handle battery charge and discharge tests, with all four channels able to share power via the common DC Link. Consequently, with alternating charge and discharge cycles, energy from discharging batteries can be used to charge other batteries over the DC Link without full regeneration to the AC line. For additional flexibility, any two channels, or all four channels, can be connected in parallel.

Cost effective Battery /Powertrain testing using Dual channel

The Dual channel offers a cost effective solution for Battery Cycler, Battery Testing application. MI-TS architecture consists of AC-DC Rectifier and DC-DC block as shown in the diagram. The two channel DC-DC blocks help power flow upto 2MW via shared DC-link. The DC link shares power between two channels without using actual power from the Grid.
The two channels can be independently configured with different voltage and current settings. In below example, we have 1MW of DUT and 750kW of battery. This setup takes only 250kW from grid for the testing 1MW DUT.
